Citybus purchased 6 Volvo Olympians with 12 metres long from Stagecoach in 1996.
Stagecoach commenced operation of a non-franchised, Residential Route 801R, on 24 January, 1994 with 5 Alexander-bodied Volvo B10M single-deckers. The Company further acquired those 6 Volvo Olympians in early-1995 and started a new service Route 802R (an extension of Route 801R) in May of the same year. Starting from 1 April, 1996, Stagecoach terminated all its bus services in Hong Kong. Subsequently, the 5 B10Ms continued their services in New Zealand, while the 6 Volvo Olympians were sold to Citybus. Citybus then allocated 505-510 as fleet numbers to these buses.
