Kowloon Motor Bus ("KMB") unveiled Hong Kong's first EURO III E-Friendly Franchised Bus on 30 May 2001.

With the support of Environmental Campaign Committee, KMB embarked on the KMB EURO III E-Friendly Bus Painting Competition, to tie in with the launch of the EURO III engines. The Overall Winner's design was painted on the first KMB EURO III E-Friendly bus, which is a 12-metre Volvo Super Olympian, with a fleet number of 3ASV141 and was registered as JZ 6467.

The winning entries, as well as the bus, were exhibited in the open area of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on 30th and 31st of May. The Overall Winner is Miss Agnes Chow, a design student of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education.

The new EURO III engine reduces emissions of Nitrogen Oxides and particulates by 28% and 33% respectively compared to the EURO II engine.
